PETALING JAYA (Aug 13): Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Huzir Mohamed warned that stern action will be taken against illegal gambling syndicates and also the owners of premises who lease out their properties or buildings for illegal activities, reported The Star.

He noted that Prevention of Crime Act (Poca) and Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing Act (Amlatfa) will be used to combat such illegal activities.

“We will also recommend to local councils to revoke the business licenses of coffee shop owners or shops selling SIM cards who are in cahoots with illegal gambling syndicates,” he said.

The report said Bukit Aman will work closely with other agencies, including Tenaga Nasional Bhd and local councils to wipe out illegal gambling activities in the country.
