BOVAEA to Educate Buyers on the Property Market

2016-10-21

Taking a more proactive, on-ground approach, the Board of Valuers, Appraisers and Estate Agents Malaysia (BOVAEA) will be participating at the upcoming Malaysia Property Exposition (MAPEX), which will be held in Mid Valley from this Friday 21st of October 2016 until Sunday the 23rd of October 2016. This is to help buyers with queries on the real estate profession, discuss challenges faced by the public as well as share tips on how to choose the right agent or negotiator. Representatives from the Board will be present to provide booth visitors with more information and advice at MAPEX BOVAEA Estate Agency Practice Committee (EAPC) chairman Eric Lim Chin Heng said “Over the years, the growing demand for real estate saw a mushrooming of illegal brokers who are not certified and registered with the board, hence cases of cheating and absconding have increased. “As a regulator body has been legally set in place by the government, it is the task of BOVAEA and its estate agents to help the public understand the intricacy of the Real Estate profession,” he added. Buying or selling a property with no basic knowledge of the field can lead to a number of complications including the possibility of being cheated by illegal brokers. Such incidents can easily be avoided if new property buyers or sellers are knowledgeable enough to assess the credibility and reliability of agents by asking the right questions.
