Message from Awards Chairman 2009 / 2010
MIEA 33rd Annual Dinner and National Real Estate Awards has brought us together once again to catch-up and recognise achievers in the industry.
We wish to express our pride that MIEA Real Estate Awards has recognised excellence in the industry last year and has also inspired more achievers to participate in these awards competitions.
On behalf of MIEA, we would like to extend a very warm welcome to everyone for finding time to be here tonight. We sincerely want to say a big “Thank You” and appreciation to our Guest of Honour, VIPs, members of the Board, ISM, PEPS, IEA Singapore, sponsors, fellow members from as far as Johor Bahru.
We are very encouraged and grateful to so many sponsors this year for their generous support towards our institute.
We also wish to remind everyone to have a good time, enjoy the food that we have passionately selected and programmes that have been carefully put together for your enjoyment.

MIEA Real Estate Leadership Award 2009 / 2010
Datuk Ravindra Dass
Datuk Ravindra Dass, aged 75, retired in October 1990 after a 21-year tenure in the post of Director-General of Valuation and Property Services, Ministry of Finance Malaysia. Datuk Ravindra Dass, a Chartered Valuation Surveyor, is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Surveyors (UK), and Fellow of Institution of Surveyors, Malaysia. He was elected President, Institution of Surveyors, Malaysia for two terms in 1974 and 1983. He was the first President, Board of valuers and Estate Agency (1981-1990). He has been President, FIABCI Malaysian Chapter from 1986-1992. Datuk Ravindra Dass was involved as a Consultant to the World Bank Housing International Indicator Programme. He has been a member of Valuation Tribunal appointed by the Malaysian Government to head Local Authority Property Tax disputes.
He was conferred the "Outstanding National Property Valuer and Property Consultant" award by the Board of Valuers, Appraisers and Estate Agents in 1997. In August 2000, the Asean Valuers Association (AVA) conferred on him a special Award for his outstanding contribution to the valuation profession in Asean. In June 2001, Datuk Ravindra Dass became the first Malaysian Valuer to be honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (ISM), for his contribution to the profession for nearly 40 years. He is the Honorary Member of the Malaysian Institute of Estate Agents.
Datuk Ravindra Dass bas been chosen for this award in view of his contribution to the Real Estate Fraternity. He is regarded as the Architect of Real Estate profession for he was responsible for the inclusion of Estate Agency Practice as part of the Board of Valuers & Appraisers then. During his tenure as the President of the Board, he pioneered the idea to regulate the profession and resulted in enactment of The Estate Agents Act in 1981. The registration of Estate Agents took effect and resulted in recognition of Estate Agents as Real Estate Professionals. Subsequently, all expiring Estate Agents have to sit for an examination and The Board certified them as registered Real Estate Agents. Datuk Ravindra Dass faced many challenges with the practice but he stood firm and introduced many policies to regulate the profession.

Zerin Properties
Zerin Properties was formed on 14 January 2002 and has since turned into Asia's Leading Real Estate mergers and Acquisitions Team. Their deals have included the sale of Four Seasons Langkawi, Intercontinental Hanoi and Landmark Office Assets in Cyberjaya, Malaysia. Zerin Properties is continuously setting new benchmarks in the industry. Zerin Properties is Registered and Licensed Real Estate Agency with the Board of Valuers, Appraisers and Estate Agents, Malaysia. In a 2-year span, they have opened offices in Singapore, Sydney, New Delhi and London.
Zerin Properties have over the years won numerous awards including Best Real Estate Agent of the Year 2008 under auspice of MIEA. In 2009, they won the Best Estate Agency Website in Asia Pacific (www.klcc-living.com) for the Residential Category by CNBC Asia Pacific Property Award. Most recently Zerin Properties won Best Real Estate Agency Residential in Malaysia and Best Comemrcial Property Marketing Consultancy in Malaysia and in Asia Pacific 2010 by Asia Pacific Property Awards in association with Bloomberg Television. It is still fresh in their mind that Mr. Previn the CEO of Zerin Properties also the MIEA Real Estate Agent of the year award in 2009.
Zerin has won this specialized category award for securing a joint venture agreement between two parties to roll out 44 hotels in Asia valued at RM688 million.

David Ong is the founder and President of Reapfield Group of Companies. To date, the group was a family of 711 negotiators spanning across 13 offices and since the pioneering days he has continuously strived to improve and add value to the growth and development of all people around him. He always aims to make them better leaders than they already are and constantly reinvents the practice in the industry.
Reapfield was David's brainchild when he started the business 25 years ago with his wife Serene who remains an active partner of the firm.
